Although this DVD was useful for it’s sidenotes, such as foot positioning, posture, etc. It did not contain much in terms of actual steps. I think that this DVD would be good for someone who has never been to a salsa club before, but maybe I should have skipped to a more advanced version. I also bought “The Quick & Dirty Guide to Salsa, Vol I” I am very pleased with it, and I am ordering Volume II today.

    Hello Ken

The reason me and my friend was so excited about your next Salsa dvd was because. I went and bought several

salsa dvds, from well known salsa instructors. Out of all of them we thought yours was the best. Your explanation of how the moves are suppose to be executed was superb.

In the combination lesson, you broke everything down step by step so it was easy for us to watch and follow along.

Also your five dollar tips on what to do when you are executing the move were excellent, That in it self was worth more than the price of the dvd . Your dvd was enjoyable to watch. Also the colorful painting in the back ground made it aesthetically to watch. It gave it a touch of class above the others. Once again out of all of them we love yours the best you are a great teacher. The overall presentation of your salsa video was excellent.

Getting started with Salsa dancing is the hardest part and this DVD makes it easy. Mr. Baldwin clearly lays out the fundamentals and understands that not everybody starts with a dance background. Most instructors make it look easy and then when I try to follow their instructions, I find it maddening that they assume so much. This DVD is different.

Ken’s building block approach starting with counting the music correctly is refreshing. A very approachable teaching style, high production values and a beautiful partner make this easy to watch over and over. This is perfect for getting a solid foundation.

The patterns are simple enough to learn quickly, but nice enough to use in a club without feeling as if I’m doing “beginner moves” all the time. I doubt this will be the only DVD you ever need, but it’s one of the best ones for getting started.

(Hopefully volume 2 and 3 are in the works and available soon.)

Both the instructor and his partner are professional. The DVD is well done with good navigation and bilingual (Spanish and English). The Spanish version is also interesting since it has been dubbed. He also added an uncut, behind the scene footage which I found very funny.

i found this vol 1 a little too advanced for beginners. Also personally, I would have loved to see dancing performance of the instructor and his partner. His partner seems to be a very good dancer as well.

Overall, I highly recommend this DVD if you know very basic moves of salsa and want to improve them or just learn new ones. Looking forward to purchase vol 2…

If you want to learn LA style Salsa, buy this DVD. Ken Baldwin is a clear, concise and articulate Salsa instructor. Ask anyone who goes to the Conga Room in Los Angeles and they will tell you that he is a charmer.

The DVD is well made and thoroughly enjoyable. Still not convinced? Ken is also one of the best looking Salsa instructors out there.
